Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) is being used in many parts of the world for the construction of dams.Use of RCC for pavements is relatively new.RCC pavements (RCCP) are appropriate for applications requiring a strong and hard wearing surface that can handle low-speed traffic.Roller compacted concrete (RCC) differs from conventional concrete in its consistency. Also conventional concrete specimen fabrication procedures, such as those standardized by ASTM,cannot be used to produce of RCC test specimens due to the stiff consistency of the concrete.Although a number of procedures have been used ,none have yet been standardized. The procedures currently used involve vibrating the fresh RCC sample on a vibrating table under a surcharge,or compacting the sample with some type of compaction hammer. The new method for fabrication of RCC specimens that is often applied for producing of hot mix asphalt specimens,is compacting of samples with Gyratory Compactor that in this study, specimens are prepared with it,too. In this research,is aimed that review the methods of preparing RCCP test specimens and compare them from standpoint of compaction degree. Results of experiments show that unit weights of specimens that are produced with gyratory compactor are closer to theoretical maximum density than produced specimens with other methods.Whereas RCC properties are heavily influenced by density, investigation of this matter seems very important.
